On November 19, 2009, Meltwater was recognized as the winner of the Schroders Next Gem Award, which celebrates young, emerging European technology companies that have demonstrated an ability to bring a unique and original concept to market.

Every year, a selection committee made up of executives from Europe’s venture community highlight three exceptional tech companies from Europe in the Changing Times Awards. This year, Meltwater was among the chosen and was awarded the prize in the “New Gem” category sponsored by Schroders, one of Europe’s largest asset management companies.

“We are proud to honor Meltwater with this year’s Next Gem award,” said Bernhard Leibkutsch, director of Schroders. “Not only does Meltwater epitomize the European spirit of innovation, the company strives to be an exemplary corporate citizen through its non-profit school in Ghana that is training the next-generation of entrepreneurs in Africa.”

An awards dinner and ceremony held in Geneva was attended by 200 people.

Here is a short film produced by the awards organization that was played as Meltwater CEO Jorn Lyseggen made his way up to the acceptance podium:
“Given Meltwater’s roots in Europe, we’re proud to be recognized by our peers for our achievements,” said Jorn, “To be honoured by world-class organizations such as Schroder’s and Audemars Piguet further validates our work in providing SaaS technology to businesses large and small.”
