Most of us have had one of those days when you say to yourself: “man, I need to blow off some steam !” Not everyone has to be having a bad day to clear his or her head. In fact, I know more people who are self-motivated to get up, get out, and do something.

Here are a few things our employees do in the San Francisco office. What do YOU do?

Yoga: After work, on the weekends, or even de-stress in the office with some yoga moves . Office yoga:

Kickball: “Kick it” with a team once a week.
WAKA (World Adult Kickball Association):

Running: Running is a great way to clear your head. Get motivated and participate in a marathon.

Martial Arts: an array of different martial arts technique classes can be taking internationally (ie: boxing, judo, jujutsu, capoeira, taekwondo, karate).

Play Rock Band: Nothing like a good Rock Band session to make you feel like a star.

There are a good amount of soccer teams as well. Co-ed, different levels of competitiveness, and locations all over the city.

  • Paul

I find that tennis is fun, cheap and it’s a great way to stay in shape

Live Music is rife in San Francisco.

Normally on a Monday (prefer to call it “FUNday”) i like to play at this place: http://www.thehotelutahsaloon.com/ and invite my workmates to join me too!

And here’s some evidence of my performances;)

Personally, I like to Spin at my local gym. It’s super intense and I always leave feeling like all of my stress has completely melted away. :-)

This is the best part of living in SF! There is always something new to try.

Since moving to the city, I have joined friends in the office as they practice yoga, rock climbing, trx training, boxing, etc. Never a dull moment!

For anyone interested, I got back into Capoeira a few months ago and it is hands-down my favorite activity. It’s a great workout, a ton of fun, and completely addictive!

I love to swim! Not only blow off steam, but in shape two. 2 birds, 1 stone…what could be better!

  • Ryan

I like to play Marco Polo at the local swimming hole. Sometimes when I’m Marco, I swim 4-5 miles in one day chasing people around the pool!

i think that you cannot overemphasize the benefits of classic ribbon interpretive dance – spiritual, cleansing, and a darn good aerobic session as well! make sure you use nylon ribbons – polyester can leave a rash.

Sports leagues are abundant in SF… I play in leagues for kickball, volleyball, soccer, basketball, and Sports Club. They’re great ways to meet people and stay active.

  • Jmay

I just joined Team In Training :-)

It’s a great way to meet young new people and have fun while your run.

By the way, who is the Swede doing the rad Karate kick? Can I get his digits or what?!

I love my two mile walk around my sub-division seeing my neighbors and then a dip in my pool for some exercise. It gets me ready for a busy day.

  • Alex

I play soccer, softball(sometimes) and kickball and love the fact that a long workday can be eliminated by playing competitive or casual sports in and around the city.

  • Tom

I blow off steam playing recreational tennis, golf, flag football, and kickball. My true passion, however, is professional beirut. I hope to one day be a national champion.

Whaaaat?! No rock climbing? Went to Planet Granite this week. Huge indoor climbing facility right between Sports Basement and the GG Bridge. After your upper body is done for the day, grab your bike or a pair of running shoes. Step outside the door and you are in running / biking heaven. In case you are into windsurfing and the wind is blowing (April through September) take approx 500 steps North and you are in Bay windsurfing under one of the coolest landmarks in the world! Enjoy the weekend – I will : )

Cool pastimes, San Fran! Living in Dubai, it’s a little difficult to indulge in outdoor hobbies what with the temperature having recently been between 105-120 degrees! So, for me, it can’t get any better than an air-conned room, an old-school Latin beat in the background, a totally cosmopolitan ground, and as much SALSA as the heart desires!

  • Drew

Yes! I play in a kickball and softball league in SF…so much fun. Yoga, running on Marina Green and dining at the new spots in the city are all among my favorite pastimes. Pefect ways to blow off steam after a long day at work…
