Happy Friday everyone! We are continuing our Fun Friday series today with some photos of people in our San Francisco office.

What do you think? Friday casual or too casual? Is there such thing as too casual in a tech company?

Give us your comments.

And finally, the pitfall of Casual Friday… “same same, but different”!?!

Friday Casual faux pas!

Friday Casual faux pas!

As a big proponent of casual, I say there is (almost) no such thing as “too casual”! :)

Of course there are some basic guidelines that should be followed when deciding what to wear to work. Generally these include the following: no shorts for the gentlemen, no flip flops, no t-shirts with profanity or other offensive messaging (unless it’s really funny), nothing too revealing, and the list goes on.

As long as these basic criteria are met, I often prefer casual attire over more formal “business casual” or even “business formal”, and not just for myself, but also for my colleagues, clients, and the partners I interact with. Casual allows for more personal expression and provides insight into the people you’re interacting with.

And for those of us who are a little more fashion forward, there is always “casual chic” attire. :)

From the heart of the casual revolution (i.e. San Francisco/Silicon Valley),

P.S. While the Friday Casual faux pas is quite disturbing, it’s not that different from everyone wearing a dark suit, right?! :)

I agree, Daniel. Casual chic is the way to go.

Black/gray/navy Suits don’t allow for much personal expression. When interviewing potential employees, for example, I find it much more interesting when a candidate shows their personality in the way they dress. Personal style says a lot about a person’s confidence and attention to detail.
