Now that we’re coming to the end of one of the “most volatile weeks in Wall Street history”, I thought it would be an ideal time to review a Havard Business Review Blog post that I found a couple of months ago, aptly titled “The Best Investment You Can Make.” Those with finance and market tuned brains might be thinking bonds or (gasp!) real estate might be safe assumptions here but the author, Umair Haque, suggests something different, something much more radical: invest in the people you love, your dream and living a full life.

Sheryl Sandberg is an influential woman.  Currently the COO of one of Silicon Valley’s biggest celebrity companies, Facebook, Sandberg is considered one of the most powerful women in the world.  While her career and ambition are impressive, it’s her advocacy work for women in leadership roles that is truly inspiring.

The Harvard Business Review’s blog, HBR Blog Network, recently featured a post by Steve W. Martin (not to be confused with funny man Steve Martin), who teaches sales strategy at the USC Marshall School of Business.  In his post “Seven Personality Traits of Top Salespeople” Martin lists and describes seven key personality traits that affect selling style of the most successful salespeople:

1)      Modesty

2)      Conscientiousness

3)      Achievement Orientation

4)      Curiosity

5)      Lack of gregariousness

6)      Lack of discouragement

7)      Lack of self-consciousness
