For the past week, the story of little Falcon Heene floating through the Colorado skies in a homemade balloon and the subsequent fallout from this alleged ‘hoax’ has been at the top of the headlines and Google searches.

This morning, the medical software company Cerner Corp. announced its Flu Pandemic Initiative with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The federal government and Cerner Corp. have teamed up to use Cerner’s newly developed medical software system to help track “hot spots” of swine flu outbreaks in order to forecast future developments.
