Last Tuesday evening the London School of Economics (LSE) Old Theatre, which has previously been host to Nelson Mandela, Bill Clinton and Amartya Sen, was buzzing with students eagerly awaiting the outcome of the LSE “Pitch It!” business plan competition they had been part of for the last 4 months. My last post introduced you to the Silicon Valley Comes to Oxford event, and on the 23rd November 2009, a group of Meltwater people attended the 9th annual event.
As the flagship event of the academic term, “SVCO bridged two world centres of ideas and explored the big issues and future directions of innovation and entrepreneurial phenomena in a vibrant and fast paced mix of masterclasses, tutorials, panel debates and networking events.”

One week from today, a group of Meltwater employees, including CEO Jorn Lyseggen, will participate in the annual Silicon Valley Comes to Oxford (SVCO) event held at the University of Oxford. 2008 was Meltwater’s first year sponsoring SVCO, which brings together “…Valley-based entrepreneurs, technologists and investors [to] share thoughts about entrepreneurial strategies and insights into disruptive innovations from the worlds of systems, software and the internet.” Some of the big names attending include Biz Stone of Twitter and Reid Hoffman of LinkedIn.
