In April this year Meltwater sponsored the German AIESEC National Kick-Off Conference in Bielefeld, Germany. Together with two recruitment managers, Kathrin Pamp and Navina Sharma, we gave a presentation on career opportunities at Meltwater Group as well as at our non-profit organization, Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) in Ghana.

AIESEC is the world’s largest student-run organization – with over 45,000 members in 107 countries and territories. Their aim is to create a platform for young people to develop their leadership skills in a global learning environment- by offering international internships as well as leadership trainings.

Each year the AIESEC German leadership team invites more than 300 delegates (active AIESEC student members) from 48 different German universities to a three-day long kick-off conference.

In these three days the national leadership team presents their strategy and vision for the coming year and help delegates to prepare themselves for their upcoming responsibilities. Part of the programme is the “Partners Day,” in which a selection of corporate representatives like Randstad, Continental, MLP, and others are invited to share their professional insights and experiences in a series of workshops and talks.

In my role of overseeing our University Relations efforts at Meltwater, I have been working closely with AIESEC for more than three years and have met representatives from AIESEC in Ghana, Singapore, Switzerland and Germany.

What I like about AIESEC is the value they place on “striving for excellence” and their focus on leadership development. Meltwater has a history of developing sales management internally. Since 2001, Meltwater has developed a top sales management team from the bottom up. We’ve built a 700-person strong organization on five continents. It turns out that AISEC is a great place to find talent that is intelligent, hard working and resourceful – talent that will develop into our future managers and business leaders.

If you are a student interested in international career opportunities, joining an organization like AIESEC might open some great doors to help you launch your professional career. Here at Meltwater, we appreciate meeting the top-notch talent that attend student events such as these.

I heard a lot of positive stuff about AIESEC and the people I have met so far from this organization seem to take a lot of ownership in what they do. What I have heard from this event has even broaded my opinion on Aiesec and it´s people: there are obviously very positive minded people with a lot of energy.

Dear Stefan Ditzen, if you happen to wander on this page again soon, please allow me to know your e-mail address. I am a PhD student at the University of Auckland in New Zealand, working on a thesis called “Microscopes, Keyholes, and Novels.” As you may see from the title, there are things that connect us in an invisible way. I would like to talk to you about certain things, but cannot find your e-mail anywhere on line. Finding your posting here was a happy accident, I suppose. My e-mail address is: francisc.szekely@yahoo.co.nz
    Thank you.
