Each August, the new incoming class of Entrepreneurs in Training (EITs) begin their training at Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST).

The third group of EITs, the class of 2011, started at MEST this month. Their goal: learn how to start a software company that sells to international markets.

Out of curiosity, I recently ran a quick analysis via Meltwater News to see how frequently a new social networking company (Twitter) and a traditional corporation (General Motors) show up in the headlines. Each of these companies have experienced a meteoric rise in media attention, albeit for drastically different reasons. Would either one of these companies receive more headline coverage in both social media (blogs) and traditional online media?

In April 2009, Forbes.com published their World’s 20 Best Places to Live list.

It turns out that there are Meltwater offices located in 11 out of the 20 cities listed by Forbes, including Zurich, Auckland and Toronto.
